I've been working on bracelet making almost every day for an upcoming market booth, but my hands feel destroyed. I have blisters and friction burns from knotting non-stop. I don't know how to prevent this and honestly haven't heard anyone talk about it. Please if anyone has tips for avoiding or managing it, that would be greatly appreciated <3

I have the same issue, and believe me, if I could prevent it, I would. I think it’s just a matter of powering through, and after a while you’ll start to get calluses that will help. For now though, perhaps try knotting with gloves on, or using a different finger to tie your knots? Lmk if that helps and good luck! 🙂

Hi @KnotEm!! it happens to me too, I once tried to wrap my fingers in painter's tape (only their wounded parts) and continúes knoting. It helped at first, like 30 minutes, but...

At some point the threads starts to mess all the tape and its glue, so the tape starts to detach from your fingers and it gets in the way more than help you, so you need to replace it with new...
I don't know, maybe it's because I'm a bit clumsy 😂 or maybe another type of tape would do better...

Well, give it a try if u want, maybe it's the solution you were looking for and it turns out to be perfect for you 🙂

Hope this helps you (and also helps anyone reading this too) 🙈

Or it could just be that we do the knots too tight and we need to take it easy 😂

Make sure to take short breaks to flex your hands!! Hotspots can’t always be helped, but try some bandaids maybe?

bandaids are a lifesaver, my thread always rubs on the same spot on my finger and occasionally does hurt so i’ve found just throwing a bandaid on it helps so much. keeping your hands moisturized can help too, i get really dry hands i have found putting lotion on right before knotting has helped and made them feel better

Hi! I've had it happen, too. Especially when the string I'm using is really thin. I find that it 'cuts' more (not an actual cut). I've wrapped the spot with clear cellophane (like Scotch) tape, because it was near by, and it's done the trick. Maybe because the surface is stick? The strings did not cut into the tape for me. Also, changing what fingers I'm using in certain steps of the process has also helped mediate the issue when it arrises. Using the tip of a finger as the tension point instead of the inside / side of a knuckle when pulling the string straight, for example.
I hope it works (has worked?) out well for you!

I usually use a mix of Band-Aids and rubber thimbles when I cross stitch, so they might also work for you. Also make sure to take breaks when your hands hurt!

also athletic tape is another option. They have a texture so it is easier to grip the thread, and it only sticks to itself, so no adhesive to worry about.
