Hello! I am making an alpha keychain for my friend for Christmas (#41647) and I am having trouble figuring out how to use an odd number of base strings when looping my strings through the clip. Because of this method, I need an even number of strings, which the pattern does not have. I have been knotting for a while but am fairly new to alphas. I would love some help with this problem as I don't know whether I should just omit a row on the pattern, attach my strings to the clip differently, or tie the extra string in. Or maybe theirs a method I'm missing- anyway, help would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance and happy holidays 😊

For the ninth base string, just use the other end of your first leading string.

I personally like to double my base strings, so I knot over two instead of one. I makes alphas look les stretched out

For the first 8 base strings, you do what you usually do. You take 4 strings and fold them in half.

For the ninth base string, you fold the first leading string, so that one end has the same length as the base strings. You use that shorter end as the ninth base string.
