String length 16strings noramal Pattern

Hi I'm want to make a Union Jack. I found a pattern on Pinterest (I hope that's okay) it is 16strings, 6 white 4blue 6red.24 rows. I want the design to be long enough to go around a large wrist like 8 or 9 in how long should I make the strings?

I think the recommended length is often 1m plus what you need for the ties. I often struggle with my strings being too short especially with big patterns. I'd recommend maybe adding some extra centimetres just to be sure.

I made a zig zag the other day 4 white strings and one each pink, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple. The colored strings were all really short by the end and the white ones still had a good 20 inches left on them. And the bracelet was just big enough to fit around a small wrist I have a hard time gauging how long stress should be I usually do then 35 inches maybe even 40 inches😑
