Confused on alpha's

So I get that you shouldn't use different string sizes for alpha's because it messes up knot sizes, but I also hear that it doesn't matter. So Should I make the base stings out of yarn and the leading string with embroidery floss? Would it work or no?

I think as long as all of your base string is the same thickness and all of your leading strings are the same thickness than it should work. If you base strings and leading strings are different I don’t think it matters as much.

As long as the yarn isn't overly thick then yes it will work, otherwise it may be difficult to knot over with the embroidery floss. As long as the leading strings are all the same thickness it should be fine.
