making patterns thinner

I really love the pattern 36448 but I want it to be thinner and I can't find a thinner version of it. I tried to alter the original pattern to make it have less strings but I wasn't successful. I was just wondering if anyone either knew of a thinner version of this pattern or if they could give any tips on how to take an existing pattern and make it thinner. Thanks so much!

I'm not sure if there is (I didn't find one) but I just submitted a 10 string version.
