Why aren't you allowed to use black and dark colors?

I'm trying to create a pattern that uses a black outline and really won't look good with any other colors besides black. Help? ๐

You can't use black because you wouldn't be able to see the lines of the grid. If you want to use black, you have to use a very dark grey in the generator. When choosing colors in the generator, you can type in the HTML code for the color you want; and when I need to use black, I use HTML code 2e2e2e. That's about the darkest grey you're allowed you use. It'll look like black in the finished product, and you'll be able to see the grid lines on the pattern.
