Hi! I recently used the design of #194499 and changed it to be a chaining pattern and reduced the number of strings. This changed the knot structure pretty significantly, but the orca still looks pretty similar to the one in the pattern. I don't particularly know if this is something okay to submit to the site?, and if it isn't is it still okay to make for personal use?--not selling or anything, as a gift for a friend.

i would say that submitting it to the site wouldn't be allowed, as it is too similar to an existing pattern, but personal use would be completely fine, I'm sure!

hope this helps! ❤️

Is this the correct pattern number? Because when I select it, it doesn't take me to an orca pattern? 🙂

Either way, your best bet when unsure is to reach out to the original creator of the pattern, and ask if its okay. 🙂 Otherwise, just reducing the strings isn't usually enough to be considered its own pattern, unless you obtain permission 🙂

Hope this helps!

Actually, if the only difference is reduced strings, the pattern likely could be considered too similar anyhow. @cheesechee

However, you could always just tie it exactly as you wish it to be tied, and upload it to the pattern that you're thinking of. That always works!

I would give my opinion but I don't see any orca in my pattern, so probably wrong pattern number. Yup, wrong number.@cheesechee is talking about #149944 by @sodapop and sodapop states her opinion about this subject in her bio.

thanks for your help everyone! My friend just liked the orca pattern but likes the shapes made by the chaining effect, so I didn’t know exactly how things could work out. Thank you again!
