Hi! I’m fairly new here, just wanting to check a few things:- So I’m currently making a pattern of the moon from a show I like called The Amazing Digital Circus. The way I’ve been doing this is by pausing the episode and screenshotting the part I want to make into a bracelet, then uploading this to ‘alpha from image’ (and then obviously editing it loads). Is this violating copyright laws or something because the image doesn’t belong to me? - Also, I’ve been using images from google for some of my other patterns. If this is against the rules, is there a way to delete the patterns? I’m rly sorry if I’ve done anything wrong I just literally never thought that it could be against the law😢 😢 😢 Thank you for reading to the end 😄 |

If using images from a specific show is allowed or not also depends on the rules that show makes about the use of their images, but generally it is allowed to create your own pattern based on a screenshot. What isn't allowed is copying a pixel art that you found online exactly. If you did this, you can message a moderator and let them know that you want the patterns to be removed. |

I'm having a similar situation. I found an image on Pinterest that I think would be so cute as a pattern 😭 and I have uploaded it using the picture generator, but I am worried I will be copying the original image even if I did edit it a bit to my own liking.

@Chipp_ if you used "alpha from image" or just used an image as a reference that wasn't pixel art in the first place and you didn't copy it pixel by pixel, it should be alright, unless the original creator of the image is against it, but that's something you have to figure out. When turning something into pixel art/an alpha pattern that wasn't pixel art before, you are creating something new. It isn't equal to the reference used. |
