In the video, it is stated that this is for 10 to 16 base strings.

!0 base strings would work, but 20 might not. You have to check out if it does or doesn't

So let's assume, 10 is the number of base strings.
You need to cut 5 strings and fold them to use as base strings.

Take two of those strings and use your background colour leading string to tie fb knots around it until your loop is long enough.

Once you have reached the desired length, bend both loop ends to point downwards so it forms an upside-down u. Clip it down on your clip-board or secure it in another secure way.

Put one string to the side on each side and cross the two left-over strings in the middle. Don't make a knot between them.

Take your remaining three base strings, fold them in half and attach them to the crossed strings using lark's head knots.

Tighten the crossed strings.

Now you can start knotting like usual with your first leading string (the one you used for the loop).

Oh ok the pattern I was going to make has 20 base strings in total so this wouldn’t work for me I’d have to do it as I normally do it but with others I could use this method

So what would you do if it was 16 base strings?

For 16:
- cut 8
- take 2 or 3 to make the loop
- attach the rest (6 or 5) to the crossed over base strings
- start tying like usual

20 might work, but I think at a certain stage it probably gets a little unstable.

@ halokiwi does it straighten out as you knot it when you do a loop like the one used in #23389?
