I have an idea I would like to play around with, However, the pattern generator doesn't make any sense or it is broken. I want to create an alpha pattern. It comes up with an error and I can't seem to delete the first pattern I was playing around with.

I checked here Soft Shadows Wrapand a suggestion was to use draw alpha, but there is an example and I cannot delete it to start fresh. I also cannot bring in the pattern from here, I would like to start with.

are there any tutorials specific to using the pattern generator to create an alpha pattern? frankly, I don't want to draw this by hand if I can use a generator.

To start fresh in "draw alpha" click "clear pattern".

If you have an image that you want to base this pattern on, you can use "alpha from image". After using "alpha from image" you most likely need to tweak the pattern in "draw alpha".

Here are some tutorials:

When I look up "soft shadows wrap" this knitting pattern comes up
https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/soft-shadows-wrap

I'm sure this is not what you meant. Could you maybe describe where you found this information?

sorry I have no as to where that soft shadows wrap came from! I am looking at #105544 gnome with spider and #133621. I want to change it to a snowflake and make a Santa gnome. Plus I just want to try the generator. both patterns are in my to-do list.

I don 't have an image to bring in, just another pattern. I tried the clear pattern before and it didn't seem to work. thanks!

If you want to design a pattern based on an existing pattern, you have to start from scratch. You have to redraw the pattern.

But you have to keep in mind that any pattern that you submit to braceletbook needs to be unique in order to be accepted to the page. So if you take an existing pattern, make sure that you add something unique.

Some users like @sodapop who designed the first pattern also does not want others to take her patterns to make their own. I recommend to always ask other users to know if they are alright with you taking their patterns.

When submitting the pattern, mention the patter(s) you based yours on in the review notes. This way it is easier for us mods to judge, if the pattern is unique enough.

Is clearing the pattern in "draw alpha" working now? If not, what exactly doesn't work?
