How do I edit a unfinished pattern?

Go to Add/Edit pattern like you did to make a new one and click on the pattern you started (it will be on the left near new pattern). I hope you clicked save and preview before you left the page otherwise it wont be saved.

but once i get to that I cant click or change the colors on the pattern

Are you doing an alpha pattern or a normal pattern?

I might be wrong, but it looks like you're going to have to use the text to edit your pattern like you would with a normal pattern. there are instructions on the bottom of the page. It's unfortunate that you can't go back into drawing mode.
