To keep all the knots even and the same size you’ll want to have consistent knot tension on all of your knots. You don’t want to pull too hard though because that could end up warping the bracelet. Also, if you use the flat alpha technique you’ll want to make the knots on color switches a little tighter, since you are threading an extra string through the knot.

i haven't tried this technique, but i've seen valentina lenin use a ruler to align her knots in place. i think it also has something to do with knot tension.
