Hi I am making an alpha keychain that I started by just taping the strings down and was having a lot of trouble accidentally pulling the strings out from under the tape over and over in the first row. Well I finally got to the second row but somehow pulled out another string again, right out from the knot I already did in the first row….. and it’s like eight strings in of course, and I don’t wanna have a hole there or lose the string but like, it’s completely pulled out 🙁Ugh I’m just not sure what to do, so I wanted to ask for any advice or tips for a way to get the string back in. I have so much tape over all the strings too I just think my tape sucks and I keep pulling the knots too tight idk. I usually attach the strings to a keychain or wood dowel first so haven’t had this issue before - I was just trying to do a double sided keychain on a keyring this time and didn’t know what to do for the ends yet…. Has anyone else had this issue with the tape before? I mean I seem to never get it secure enough I guess, and then wanna tie the knots too tight and pull the tape up on accident, idk… I just really wanted this keychain to be nice 🙁 I have a clipboard too but hate how it leaves an indent on the strings. Ugh just not sure what to do. Any suggestions for securing the tape or getting the string back in? Sorry if that wasn’t very clear - ive just given myself a headache with this 🙁 |

I don't think you can put the base strings back in. You have to restart :/For me tape also does not work, but binder clips work for me. If you haven't tried them yet, I recommend trying them. |

@halokiwi I just used so much string already though 😭 idk maybe I’ll just trim the same strings. Thx for the binder clip suggestion - I’ll definitely try that. I’m just sad because the knots were looking so good 🙁

If the knots haven’t come undone I’d seriously lather them in glue and when it’s dry I would add in an extra base string continuing as if nothing happened

I would just pull out all the other base strings too so you can restart with the same materials.
