How long to cut string?

I have made bracelets with a teardrop loop at the start. I do double my arm-span for each color and the n fold in half. I feel that it’s too much I have to cut off and it feels wasteful. I am ~5’ for reference. Tips?

It depends on the pattern and how much the string is used.On average around 95cm (or 190cm folded) work, but it could be anywhere between 45cm (90cm) and 145cm (290cm).
