whenever i make an alpha the edges of the bracelet get wider as it goes on. i think it’s because when i tuck the string in the knots when switching colours it makes the know bulkier and takes up more room, making each row a different size. any tips? i’ll see if i can add a photo to show what i mean

How do you start your alphas? Sometimes the base strings are too close together n the beginning for example when using a dowel and tying the base strings to it with larks head knots. If you push the larks head knots all the way together, the base strings will be too close to each other. |

i don’t think they’re too close tgth, it rlly only happens later on in the pattern the first few rows are always fine. if you look at the alpha i have in my prof you might be able to see better, its in the middle that there’s kind of like a wave

I think it doesn't look too bad 🙂How are you securing your bracelet while tying? It might not be secured well enough. I think what happened in the lemon alpha was that the knots in the first row where very close together (just one colour and it was the starting row, so it makes it easier to have them closer together), then the alpha widened because you got further away from that first row, then halfway through your knotting got tighter, either because you just got used to knotting or you needed to hold your bracelet tighter because it started moving around a lot due to the way you secured it. What could also contribute to the bracelet getting slimmer again is the leading strings in the back being very taut. You could cut them to relieve some tension. |

Are you moving the point where you secure it down as you go or does the point where you secure it always stay at the top?
