I'm trying to use the segment knot technique but I don't really understand it and I've already watched several tutorials.

Do you have a specific question about segment-knotting? What exactly is it that you don't get?

Have you read a pattern before or have you only ever watched video tutorials on specific patterns?

Have you watched MashaKnots' video on reading normal patterns? Have you read my tutorial on segment knotting? Which videos have you watched and which parts are confusing you?

Is there a specific pattern that you would like to segment-knot?

Yes, I saw your tutorial and Masha Knots' tutorial, but when trying to apply it to a pattern I don't really know how to start the knots. I tried to read the pattern 28009 But I don't know how to apply this technique to that pattern What really confuses me is Row 14 and 20 in the center where a green diamond forms

I drew in the segments for pattern #28009:

If it doesn't work, you can also try watching a video on this pattern

Row 1 to 10: like a regular chevron ending with fb or bf knots in row 10
Row 11 to 17: like an upside-down chevron ending with bf or fb knots in row 17
Row 18 to 20: like a regular chevron ending with fb or bf knots in row 20
Row 21 to 23: like an upside-down chevron ending with bf or fb knots in row 23
Row 24 to 27: like a regular chevron
Row 28 to 40: split into three separate parts
Row 41 to 44 (continued until row 10): like a regular chevron

You basically "just" do chevrons or upside-down chevrons and switch between them by doing fb or bf knots. The diamond is created by switching from an upside-down chevron to a regular chevron. Crosses are created when switching from a regular chevron to an upside-down chevron.

What really helped me get the hang of segment knotting is doing the exact same pattern whilst following along with a youtube video (Mashaknots ofc haha) and it helps you learn how to visualise exactly where to do your segment if that makes sense? But generally, be on the look out for chevrons and half triangle/half diamond shapes!
