Tight twisted ties?

Idk why but no matter how tight I twist I find it loosens after I tie the final knot. For that reason I tend to avoid twisted ties in my bracelets and default to braids. Perhaps I need more practice but I think it has to do with when I knot off the end of the ties.

Also this is one of the few things I struggle with in bracelet making, I find it more annoying that making large alphas

I assume you have twisted the individual halves in the opposite direction before twisting them together, right? If the twist of the twisted ties loosens, either the twists of the individual halves wasn't tight enough to begin with or they somehow loosened. They should be twisted so tightly that they twist together automatically. If they loosened, the issue might be that the material you are using is too smooth or the knot of the twisted ties is somehow not tight enough. |

My method is to twist the individual halves and both halves together step by step. I start at the very beginning and twist the individual halves. Then I twist them together. Then I continue a little lower.Potentially the method I used as a child for making just twists might also work. I didn't know how to make friendship bracelets yet, so I never did it for the ties of a friendship bracelet. I would tie one end of the strings to something and then keep tension on the strings while I twist them as much as I can in one direction. When you release tension, it automatically twists together. To prevent it from twisting together messily, I would but a weight in the centre. If you were to do this method with the ties of a friendship bracelet, you would tie the end of one individual half to something or secure it in another way. It needs to be very secure. Then you take the end of the second half and twist it as much as possible. Keep tension until both halves have a good amount of twist. Then release tension and bring both halves together to let them twist together. It might twist a little messily but you should be able to straighten it out by having the ends of the ties in one hand and the bracelet part in the other hand and pulling it straight. |

I just tried it on an unfinished bracelet and it twists together very nicely and tightly.
