Hi!I'm trying to make some kind of bag. It's like the mandala flower, where I kept adding strings. But now I stopt adding strings, so instead of becomming wider/bigger it goes up. I like how it's turning out, but I don't know how I should end it at the top. Any ideas? please help! My profice picture is the beginning of the pattern (before I went up). |

Hi!! I love seeing these mandala bags and want to make one of my own one day. Like bkornre said, is it going to be a drawstring bag or a tote bag? For drawstring, if you make loops up at the top of it with the sections (sort of like this: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/985231164856841/ ) and then have a string to draw all the loops together. If you’re looking for just a tote bag, I would say to sort of do a triangle start/end with it to make half of all the ends come together, then do a basic chevron or candy stripe etc from there (kinda like this with the tote bag strap: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/30469734972803736/ )

@bkornre and @just_mere thanks for responding,The idea that I was going for is a drawstring bag. I don't really know yet what I exactly want but probably something like https://www.pinterest.com/pin/985231164856841/ I'm just wondering how I'm going to make the loops, because if I make 6 loops (the mandala flower has 6 leafs) they will be very big. I also don't know how to make the loops (where does the thread end????) (For reference: the mandala flower is about the size of my hand I'm not good at explaining these things since english isn't my first language, but hopefully you understand what I mean |

Unfortunately I can’t see the link, it just takes me to my Pinterest home page, but here’s what I would do. If you overlap the strings in separate sections, the add a string and do square knots with it, it should be secure. Here’s what that would look like from what I’ve found: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/1020839440593501717/ (Look at steps 18-22), and this: https://www.pinterest.com/pin/1020839440593501807/

@just_mere now I can't open your links either, it brings me to the pinterest home Page. I don't really understand what you're explaining, SORRY , can you maybe explain it in a different way or something else?

Oh gosh I’m so sorry! 🤦♀️ but it is essentially just gathering the strings together at the end, then laying it over another bundle of strings. Then, you take a different string whatever color you want, and make square knots with it on both of the bundles. I’ll set my profile pic to it because I feel like it’s hard to explain without seeing it 😅

@just_mere Oh, it makes so more sense, now that I have seen the picture. Thanks for the idea/ advice/ inspiration (I don't know what to call it, but thank you) I'm not quite ready with 'The mandala flower bag 'walls'', so maybe I'll change my mind (probably not), but I will figure something out. ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ |

If you don’t want to build the ‘walls’ on your bag, I would think you could maybe start a triangle-ends type thing on where the mandala flier goes in, and then take it up to the top of the flower petal point. From there, you could split the strings in half and make the loops like the picture in my profile. Let me know if that makes sense 😅 because it’s quite hard to explain without actually showing it in a picture

@just_mere I think that I understand it and I like that idea, but I have to make the 'walls' in general taller before I reach the top.
