How to change colors for alpha bracelets

I’ve been learning how to make alpha patterns and they’re getting pretty easy. The only trouble I keep having is how to switch colors. Every time I do it, I keep seeing bumps in the bracelet. Any advice on how not to see them or accidentally create them?

When doing an alpha without the flat alpha technique, it will show up with those bumps where the different color it, almost as if those sections are raised out of it. I would recommend trying to learn the flat alpha technique, which involve threading the colors you are not using through the knots of the color you ARE using (if that makes sense). Masha knots has a good tutorial on it if you search flat alpha technique on YouTube. She also has one called the clean back alpha tutorial that demonstrates it being used.
