alpha straight edges technique help with switching colors!!!

so i watched masha's video on the straight edges video a lot and i can't figure out how to switch strings when one row is black and the one right after is white, for example. do y'all know how to switch strings on the edges??

So are you talking about the technique where you do two forward backward knots in a row? If so when switching a color instead of tying it in like other times you would just make the edge with the new color.

If you switch colours right at the edge you switch them like you usually would, not with the flat alpha technique I think.

@halokiwi Is correct. You would use the substitution method, where you take the string you don't need anymore under the base string you're knotting onto, and bring the colour you need in under the other base strings and make the knot as you usually would.
