On an arrowhead bracelet one of my strings has become almost too short to work with. Is there a way to knot another string on the same color onto that to make it longer?

Just like a color switch? Also should I wait until that string is at one of the edges of the bracelet?

You fold the string that's too short behind the bracelet. Then you take a new string of that colour and secure it to your working surface so that it's in the place where your previous string was. Then you carefully continue knotting as if your new string is your old string.
