How long should my strings be for a 5.5inch bracelet?

For Normal Patterns, I usually do a wingspan and fold that in half if I am making a loop. Mine are tend to be 5inches, and I have more than enough string leftover when I have done the ties. So that should be enough for you too. For Alpha Patterns, I tend to measure my base strings the length of my clipboard and add an inch or two extra and fold that in half (for the loop) and again, its enough for me. I usually do about the same with normal patterns, wingspan length folded in half and for alphas I measure the string how long I want the bracelet to be plus how long I want ties plus an inch or two for the loop so you would measure 5.5 inches for the bracelet plus about 3-5 inches for the ties ( I usually add an extra inch to my ties measurement to account for the knot) plus 2 inches for the loop and so it would be about 10-12 inches and then double that to fold in half so anywhere from 20-24 inches folded in half should be a good length
