How do you start a keychain with an even number of base strings so that theres no loose string at the start? normally I fold over the base strings to attach them, which creates an even number of strings. so one becomes the leading string, then theres an odd number of base strings (hopefully that makes sense). but how should I do it when I need an even number of base strings??

I start it like normal and then when I come back to that side I knot the loose string from the leading string into it with the base string, if that makes sense. Like I knot on top of it like it is a base string, but together with the first base string. I hope this makes sense!

And there's usually extra sticking out still after a couple knots on top, so I just cut it off as close to the knot as I can
