what’s the method called, like, crochet has a name, what’s this called. i’m very confused...

There are different techniques related to bracelet making. Do you mean anything specific or in general?

For normal patterns you can knot row-by-row or segment-knot.

For alpha patterns there are different techniques to make colour switches:
- there's the two-tone alpha technique
- the regular alpha technique
- the flat alpha technique

You can also do the upside-down alpha technique where what is usually the back of the knots is the front.

There's also the option to have a clean back in alpha patterns referred to as the clean-back-technique.

In both normals and alphas you can do the straight edges technique.

For both alphas and normals you can make shaped bracelets. For normal patterns you can either leave loose strings or hide the loose strings in the edge. I don't really think there's a specific name to that technique.

Macrame is also a technique related to knotting.

I would refer to friendship bracelet making in general as friendship bracelet making or knotting.
