It depends on the loop you need to find the shape in the pattern and cut it to where you want to start. A candystripe naturally has a diagonal slope shape so most people start with a diagonal slope. But chevron are perfect for teardrop loops. Watch masha knots tutorial on how to make triangle ends (thereโs 2 videos) and you will see how to cut patterns
