So what I'm understanding is that your string is divided into two sections right? So you take your second further most string on the left. So if your pattern is ABCD and DCBA you'll start with your left side ABCD. You'll take B and tie a knot (backward knot) with A. Then A and B will essentially become one string. You'll take C and knot it with your large AB string. Now AB and C become one string. So you'll have string ABC and string D. So you'll take D and tie a knot around your ABC mega string. Then you are done with that part. Next you'll take your second right most string that is in the DCBA section. So you'll take B and do a forward knot with A. Then B and A will make one string, BA. Then You'll take C and make another knot with BA so you'll have one string CBA. You'll take D and knot it with CBA so you'll have one mega string DCBA. I know that's confusing but I don't know how else to explain it...
