so ive seen the review guidelines, but i dont know what a few of the phrases mean. what is a simple fishbone chevron, simple zigzag pattern, and simple diamond pattern and what does each look like when they arent simple? also what does one row f knots (and one row b knots) mean in the simple plaid patterns thing? know what the knots are but confused on the one row part (also if the simple in simple plaid pattern is defined by more than just that what makes a plaid pattern simple? know what plaid is tho unlike the other simple things)

also unrelated is this the right forum section to put this or is there a better one

Here are some examples of these simple patterns:
Simple fishbone chevron: #7954
Simple zig zag pattern: #35326 #147
Simple diamond pattern: #25924

An example of a not simple pattern would be #86769. It is both a fishbone and a zig zag pattern but since it is a combination, it adds complexity. Other ways to add complexity would be having some irregularities in it, for example different sized diamonds in a diamond pattern.

One row f knots, one row b knots would be for example
f,f,f,f
b,b,b
which is pattern #601

This knotting structure can be extended to any amount of strings and just like simple candystripe or simple chevron patterns you don't need a pattern for every possible amount of strings because it is really easy to deduct how to do it for any amount of strings and the visual results (there are mutiple possible visual results) will be very similar except for size and amount of colours.

I think "generator" would have been a good fit because your question is about designing patterns, but "site and app" works too because this is a question about the guidelines.
