How to check if a similar pattern exists before publishing?

what the title says, I made a pattern but its kind of simple so i feel like theres a decent chance someone made something similar before that would cause it to not be allowed, and i dont want to bother the mods by submitting the pattern if soalso uh somewhat related does anyone have an example of two patterns that are similar but still different enough to be approved? Im kind of unsure were the line is drawn between patterns that are too similar and ones that are different enough |

Usually I search of patterns with the same keywords that I would use and see if I see any similar first.

(Oops I didnt mean to hit send lol) anyways to answer your second question if the dimensions are different then the pattern will usually get accepted since some people like bigger or smaller patterns.

I recommend searching patterns based on keywords, a range of number of strings (a little below your design to a little above your design), and also a range of the number of colors. For being different enough, your pattern needs to have significant/noticeable differences, not just a couple pixels different. Your patterns needs to be unique and the pixels significantly making the design your own. I hope that helps a little 😊 |

If it is a normal pattern, you can try to play around with the knotting structure a little in a way that doesn't change the appearance of the pattern. If a pattern with the same knotting structure exists, the generator will tell you in "normal". If the pattern is as simple as you say it is, chances are that it might exist, but for a more complex pattern it is usually very unlikely to accidentally create an identical pattern. I recommend to also check the list of patterns we generally decline because many of the simple designs that would lead to accidental duplicates are also listed there. Patterns that are similar but different enough are for example #6390 and #17073 They have different amounts of string and the motif is slightly different |
