Just curious, if there has been any statements by anyone on Braceletbook's rules/views on AI usage? I don't use any AI for my patterns, but I just wanted to see if anything has been said or any rules on it.

I would say pretty confidently that using AI is not allowed. This site is for creativity, and using AI kinda defeats the purpose of that. Hope this helps! ❤️ |

Additionally, not even getting into the moral implications of AI (which I am firmly and openly against as an artist and writer obviously) I don't think any AI tools would actually work in generating a pattern that actually makes sense and is feasible to accomplish (at least with normal patterns where you have to put a lot of consideration into the specific knots you tie in what order to get the patterns you want; it might be the same with alpha patterns but I don't know from personal experience obviously). AI doesn't have the same logic and reasoning to discern when a pattern would actually be possible at all or the steps needed to do so. I believe it's already had similar difficulties with other crafts like crochet where it's straight up just trying to poorly recreate its idea of what the steps are supposed to look like based on its training data without having any idea WHY those steps are being taken. Sure, shoving a bunch of monkeys in a room with typewriters will eventually result in the complete works of Shakespeare through sheer statistical chance, but those monkeys will in no way be able to understand a word of what they just wrote and thus COULD NOT write an original piece with the same level of quality and narrative sense, y'know?

@indicrayon sadly I use AI as tech assistance and honestly it is horrible for image generation. It cannot edit and it cannot create a proper pattern, I’ve tested it out. I mainly use it for helping me fine tune my ideas or writing before I actually start something and even then I really have to know how to dictate my AI use. I like having AI as a tool but it doesn’t replace human artwork and it couldn’t if it tried

Do you think it’s ok for me to use AI to change the background of my photos? Obviously this doesn’t affect the bracelet itself, I just like the picture to look professional and also I’m really bad at taking photos 😂

@LoveCraft I don’t know if they would allow it but I don’t think you should use it. This is a website for artists and AI is not only a threat to artists but also morally wrong. If I were you I would either accept that the background of the photos aren’t always perfect or I would learn to take good pictures : )

@LoveCraft I think your photos look great, especially your recent ones with the gradient background. MashaKnots has a video in which she shows her photo taking progress. I think that can be really useful if you want to improve your photos. We moderators have not come to a final conclusion on use of ai but most of us seem to think similar as @banankage |

@LoveCraft oh, I thought you had used craft paper. You can get craft paper with all sorts of patterns at craft stores. They're great backgrounds.
