I've been wondering about photo etiquette on this site - so far I've only submitted photos of bracelets where I followed the patter exactly.

but sometimes I make some small edits, like adding a string on each side for the straight edge technique for some patterns that don't have that already or making the... chain bubbles? in pattern #170733 one knot longer to better fit my beads.

would pics of those bracelets made based on patterns but not followed 100% exactly be allowed, or would that be considered misleading to others considering making their own bracelets with those patterns? because I myself do often look at photos of the pattern to see how it actually looks in practice and I wouldn't want to mislead anyone.

which is why I'm wondering how it actually works around here

Photos of creations with small deviations from the original pattern are 100% allowed. Even creations with new elements added to the pattern or existing elements removed from the pattern are allowed.

Although, if you modify a pattern to such an extent where it's no longer obvious that it's a variation, I recommend submitting it as a separate pattern (you can also state in the comments that it's inspired by X pattern) and post the picture there.

We allow slightly modified bracelet photos. Like turning a normal pattern into a shaped pattern or adding beads. We also allow bracelets with slightly more/less strings (like adding a border or removing a border). Mainly we just ask for it to be recognizable to the original design.

If you make significant modifications to the original design (like knot structure), then I recommend submitting it as new pattern with a note attached to in the Review Notes for the Moderators to know, and also make a comment once your pattern has been accepted. 😊
