I HIGHLY recommend masha knots’ flat alpha tutorial, it’s very easy to follow, here’s the link:

https://youtu.be/_YVFAX9sacw

As for tips:

1. Working on a flat surface, like a table, is ideal to keep the base strings uniform and not move around as much, making the bracelet straighter.

2. If you can, on your first try at alphas start in a straight line. Either use a wooden dowel, keychain ring (d-ring), or just attach your strings to a scrap piece of thread if you don’t have anything else.

3. Double up your base strings to make the image you’re creating more square and look less stretched out.

4. Cut the dragging strings on the back side to relieve the tension, and then gently stretch out the fabric to, again, make the image more square and look less stretched.

5. It’s ideal to start with a pattern that doesn’t have many color switches, 2-3 at most, just so you can get the hang of it.

Masha knots also has a video on alpha tips in case you need more info:

I would also say Masha Knot flat alpha tutorial! If you don’t have a wooden dowel, keychain I sometimes use a clip board to start in a straight line!

Here’s my update!! I first watched the alpha flat tutorial from Masha Knots twice. Found a pattern I thought I could do easily: 1854. Had to rewatch some of the colour switches, but then got a hang of it. I am now halfway done the bracelet and I will upload a picture of it when I am finished!! Thank you so much for all the tips!! You guys are actual lifesavers
