Looped Lanyard Help

I have made a fair number of bracelets and keychains before, but I wanted to try and make a loop lanyard (the kind you most often see that people can wear around their necks). I haven't been able to find any tutorials for something like this and was wondering if anyone else has attempted this before, or has somewhere I can find a tutorial. I was planning on starting it like a normal keychain (slip-knotting onto a key ring), but I can't really conceptualize how to end it so that it loops back onto the keyring. Any help is much appreciated! 🙂

Do you have a regular lanyard at hand? You can look at it to see how they are usually made. The ones I have are all just one long strip that is sewn together to be attached to the D-ring/to form a loop. I'd do it the same way for a friendship bracelet lanyard. Just tie a long band without any fancy start and in the end you sew it together.
