When you say teardrop loop, do you mean a loop with a v-shaped start after or do you mean a loop with any start after? I recommend doing a shaped start after your loop. The shaped start can have many different shapes: /, \, V, ^, W, M or any combination |

I watched a few videos and in one of them, the person was making bf knots over all strings until only one color remained, then the same thing with fb knots on the other side then closing the loop with either a backward or a forward knot in the center. It works but there’s a knot of every color at the start and it doesnt look so good either every pattern

I got you. You can also do single-coloured edges for shaped starts and ends. If for example bf knots would produce a multi-coloured edge, you can do fb knots instead for a single-coloured edge. The process is otherwise the same. Here is a video on the topic: https://youtu.be/kLkcwaTUGv8?si=Bm3Um-2mp0MfICZ6 |

it makes no difference for the position of the strings if you do fb or bf knots.
