i use this tool to help hold my strings and i’m yet to see anyone else use it not even professionals

i’m not sure if it’s there to help you or if it’s bad because the strings are really tense so what do you think should i carry on using it or is it doing more harm then good ( the tool is my pfp)

If it works for you, use it. Personally I don't use or need it and I think it shouldn't be necessary for most. The strings don't need to be separated like this at times. It makes you inflexible because you need to rearrange them constantly. I just hold the string I'm knotting with in my right and the other strings in my left hand. Only one of the strings in my left needs to be separated out at once, so I don't need to keep the others separated at all times. After tying a few rows, the strings will naturally fall in order. Only the first few rows are a little tricky. |
