Bracelet puffing up in random spots?

Hey everyone! I'm pretty new here and currently working on my first alpha bracelet. For reference, I'm making pattern number 151416. I probably shouldn't have picked such a hard pattern as my first but I love Mitsuri and this pattern is the one that made me want to try alphas in the first few lace. I'm very pleased with the results so far, except in certain areas, the fabric is raised and hardened for some reason. I know that my tension isn't too tight in these areas, because the knots there are actually as loose or looser than the rest of the project. I work with about medium tension as I already had some experience from normal bracelets, although it isn't completely consistent yet. Specifically it happened where I added the tan for the forehead area and the dark green pupil of her eye. Both times it was where I was switching colors and it spans over 2 or more rows both times in the same area. Could it just be from where all of the color switches in that area could have made it puff up? I'm not really worried about fixing it this time since it isn't anything major but it's definitely something I'd like to improve on in future attempts. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

Are you doing flat alpha colour switches or regular colour switches? Are all strings you use by the same brand? |

Yeah I forgot to mention that I am using the flat alpha technique and being sure to pull all of the previous colors through all the way so it doesn't look weird. And yeah, I'm using all DMC brand except for the background color which ends multiple rows before the problems I'm having arose. Honestly I'm a bit baffled about this lol

Is it possible that the loose leading strings in the back pull the bracelet together causing the puffing? If that's the case, you can cut the loose leading strings in the back to release some tension. |

That honestly might be. I'll definitely try that. Thanks so much and have a great day or night ❤️
