Hi everyone! i was wondering for normal patterns with shapes/animals in them like patterns #183314 or #6390. What is the best way to knot them would it be segments knotting or going row by row? Thank you in advance 🙂 |

#6390 is a 1212 pattern. It consists only of fb and bf knots. These patterns are best tied row by row.I actually made a version of it that is more suitable for segment-knotting: #35707 #183314 is somewhere in the middle. It has majorly fb and bf knots and it's more complex. I think row by row would be easier but you can definitely get segment-knotting to work for this one. |

I have a lot of trouble understanding and following how exactly to segment knot. I usually end up doing something wrong and wrecking the whole thing. Is there some rule of thumb to follow that will help me figure it out? Or are there some patterns easier to segment knot (like chevron but a little bit more challenging) that I can begin with? ... I would like to to work my way up from easy to harder patterns. |

@rm7183I would say a good difficulty progression in segment-knotting would be #1 #2 #117 #8873 #150 #104826 #18 |

@rm7183Instead of #115 you can also do #2772 It's a bit easier and has the same result What really helps me is taking a screenshot or printing the pattern and then drawing the segments into it. |

@halokiwi thank you! It was #18 I was trying and struggling with. Maybe I will start with the progression you shared. TYSM!

@rm7183 What really helped me learn was actually following along and making a bracelet with the same pattern of a youtube video of someone segment knotting. It genuinely took that one video, and honestly only watching it the once for me to immediatley understand what I had to do, how to go about it and how to apply it to other bracelets. This is the one I used https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txDdHN8v5hk
