How to make this type of loop for normal patterns?!

How do you make a loop for a normal pattern that you don’t fold the strings in half for? For instance #207739 I made it but my loop I just tied one long string around the rest and in the beginning the kept coming out of it! Is there a trick to making loops for those patterns?
