Hello! While I'm not a beginner with alpha patterns, i still very much struggle in regular patterns. Everyone's advice is to pull tight, but my hands just.. don't do that. Even in my alpha stuff there's a slight wonk even after years because my work flow gets the best without pulling super tight, just enough to sit comfortably. However i still don't have that comfort with regular patterns, and they get all messed up when I try pulling tight, but without it i don't really know what am i doing either. Any help?

Instead of keeping constant tension, I've found that yanking the knot after tying holds it well and prevents holes. Hope this helps!!

isn't that the same thing as pulling? I can't pull tight, that's literally the whole point

You want to make the first half of the knot as far up as possible (this doesn't require being able to hold string super tightly) and the second half just tight enough for the knot not to loosen. The first half determines the placement of the knot and the second half secures it in place. You do want to hold your "base" string tight, but only tight enough for the knot to not "flip" when pulling on the "leading" string. |

You could try making a bracelet holder of your own out of cardboard. It’s essentially just a square out of cardboard, with notches at the bottom that you can put your strings into and it will hold them for you as tight as you put them into the notches. The bracelet can be hes at the top of the cardboard with a binder clip. Not sure how well this will help, but it’s the best I could think of
