so i made my first alpha however the pattern looks stretched out vertically but i felt like my knot tension was tight so im not sure why this happened and advice would be greatly appreciated 🙂

Could you possibly post a picture of it so I can see what it looks like? Maybe your knot tension was TOO tight, but at the same time it could be because the base strings are too close to one another, like if you try to fit a ton onto a keychain and they are squished together

@Eleanor200 Alpha patterns inherently will me a bit longer than the pixel art, but a way to make it bit less elongated is to make your knots a bit tighter, while still avoiding making them too tight 😄

this is a pretty common issue, but a good solution is to use the double / triple base strings method. for example, double or triple your base strings and then knot onto 2 / 3 as if it’s one string. hope this helps, @ me if it doesn’t make sense ❤️

Looser knots, thicker basestrings/doubled basestrings and pushing up your rows with a ruler should help.
