I know how to make normal pattern bracelets. But I have NO CLUE how to do the alpha patterns. So, how and where should I start. And any simple patterns to try? Thanks!

I would say maybe start with some d-ring keychains? That’s how I started out, and it gave me experience to attempt other things. If you wanna go that route, I would recommend patterns like #481, #233, #134097, #173826 or #87658. If you’re looking to start with bracelets, (ones with two ish colors are best for beginners I’d say) some that I have seen are #38672, #1654, or #17376. I didn’t watch a tutorials or anything on how to do them when I learned, I just gave it my best and got better the more I did. So if you like a challenge, you could do that 😅 but I would recommend watching a YouTube tutorial on how to do Alphas. You could also go into the video section of BraceletBook and filter it by “Alpha” and however many strings/colors you’d like, and you can find some tutorials for specific ones there.

alphas can be tricky, [but if you practice you get better] because alphas of themselves are not hard, just figuring out how to make them!! 😉 I'd say to try marsha knot's tutorial on alphas!! ❤️ ❤️

I would start off by watching Masha knots vertical wave tutorial and attempting the bracelet! Once you get the hang of that I would watch her flat alpha technique video and start with a pattern you find on here, I personally find bigger patterns 12-16 ish strings perfect for beginners since I feel like when I was starting off it gave me more control over the bracelet and I didn’t have to move on to a new row so quickly !! Make sure you use embroidery floss rather than craft cord for your first bracelets since craft cord is a little flimsy and harder to work with when starting out (in my opinion). Good luck ☺️

#36730 you can post any (I believe) simple alpha that is just lines of colors, nothing fancy (look at the pictures for this pattern) and MAKE SURE that your base strings are securely fastened, the worse thing is when you are on your second row, and one of the base strings gets pulled out from you trying to tightly tie the knot (has happened SO many times for me😭) I'm just starting out with alphas, but its the same knots, only there is just forward and backward, I don't believe there is any fb or bf knots.
