You can find a lot of tutorials on YouTube on how to follow patterns, I'd recommend Masha knots' tutorials in particular

A big tip when segment knotting is to draw segments onto the pattern, like when you use the same string to make multiple knots in one go. Also understanding the meaning of the arrows is a big thing. Hope this could help and made sense!
