How do you understand alphas/add in other string?

i’ve been trying to do alphas and for me it’s hard to understand them and add in other colored string
that aren’t in the knot.

With alpha's you just work from left to right, then right to left (alternating each row). To add in colours, you tape it down to your work space, and introduce it into the bracelet, by moving the previous colour out the way, and making the first half of the knot that you need to do, then bring the previous colour down and over that knot, then do the second half of the knot. The second one is more for if you want to keep your bracelet flat when changing colour (which is the method I explained but visuals may make it easier to follow).

If you're new to Alpha's I recommend trialing patterns that use 12 or less base strings, and 2 colours. It'll make it much easier to understand and less overwhelming.
