I was wondering how you give the little 1 beside the person avatar after they win a challenge???

You can just message them that they won or comment is your challenge that so and so won. Sorry if I wasn't much help.

You can’t, only moderators can. The numbers next to people’s avatars are rewards they earned from either official challenges or reporting duplicate patterns.

Others prize ideas are making one of the winners’ pattern, giving them a shoutout in your bio, making a custom pattern/profile pic for them, etc. You just can’t give the number next to the profile pic unless you’re a moderator.
