When I’m making bracelets I’m looking down a lot which bugs my neck after a while... is there a better position? Or any tips to help?

I have this too, but what i started doing is taking 5 minute stretching breaks when it starts to hurt, and maybe switch chairs or places you knot! 👍

@Belle0812 when I make bracelets I like to use a clipboard and sit at a desk, and then have the bottom of the clipboard sitting on my lap and the back of the clipboard up against the edge of the desk, so the clipboard is almost upright. That way I don’t have to bend my neck down as much. I hope this makes sense lol.

I would suggest trying using a slanted elevated surface like a clip board possibly but also stretching from time to time!

I do stretches when ever it starts bothering me and try to get my blood flowing again also recommend to lay in a bed/sit in a padded chair or couch.

If you have a safety pin and a nice throw pillow, you can safety pin the bracelet to the pillow and sit wherever you are more comfortable (I like to sit with my feet on my couch and recline back a little or I sit on my bed) so you don't have to bend over like you would on a desk. There are pro's and con's to doing this, but if you're just wanting to make the bracelet as a pass time I definitely recommend using that technique. A clipboard in your lap really slips around and can dig into you if you don't put it in a proper position, but if you have a nice, firm throw pillow that'll it in your lap you won't have to worry as much. With the idea of that, When you get to a point where you start bending your neck more, then position the pin higher up on the pillow! Keep doing so the longer your bracelet gets and you should be fine Another thing too, if you're bending your neck weirdly, maybe you could try to get a small blanket, fold it up and use it as a neck brace sorta thing (like you get for plane rides) It should help with any cramping, when you need a break lift up your head onto the blanket like a pillow and stretch, it should prevent any discomfort you may have with stretching your neck without it. Also, take breaks!!! And take them often!! Pause to get a drink of water, or go grab something to eat. stretch out a little bit and get your muscles moving so they're not stiff when you get up next |

My neck also hurts quite a bit when I'm sitting at my desk making a bracelet. Usually what I do is I will draw out the pattern (since I only make alphas) on some graph paper and I sit on my bed with my clipboard. My back and neck sill hurt a little bit because I have to sit up, but usually it doesn't.

i usually take little breaks like every 40 mins and do a little stretch so it doesn’t hurt as much

I have this too and I have found a solution here it is so first once you get neck pain while looking down try rotating your head in a circle to stretch then if possible go grab some water, then you need to gain some stamina of how long you last with your neck hurting but don't go for a long time at first try and go little by little so you don't hurt your self too much. 😜

I lie on my stomach across my bed to make bracelets and I never get sore

I sit on the couch, knees up, feet flat work on a clipboard that rests on my knees and midriff and I find that watching a show infront of a tv or something helps because you look up every so often. 🙂

I basically just put my chair on the lowest so I am like almost on the same level as my desk

I usually go up against the headboard of my bed and push my clipboard against me. You can also lower your chair if you are on a desk.

I personally like to sit up against something, pull my knees up, and prop my clipboard up against my knees. Since it's closer to my eye level I don't have to look down as much but of course, sometimes it's just nice to take breaks too. : )
