How long should be the main thread in alpha?

I'd like to start my first alpha and I don't know how long the main thread should be. I have 14 base threads, 80 rows and medium part of pattern with a different color. Could someone help me?

If you mean main thread as leading string. You can always as a new one in. I recommend watching Mashe

Usually with alphas, there isn’t a certain length your leading string should be. Usually you knot with your leading string until you run out, and then you add in more of the same color like you would with any other color switch 🙂
