I count the tiles.. for example: row 1- 39(2)7..this means - 39 background - 2 letter color - 7 background and so forth for each row. i write the letter color in () to keep tab of colors..if more than 1 letter color then use [] to keep tab. Good Luck !!!!!!

yes they are cheaper and have more to work with rather than just a set length amount of string on the roll..ty for comment.

This is really cool! and I use crochet thread too, it's way cheaper than buying those tiny embroidery floss things.

Thank you very much. I do not use embroidery floss/wool for any of my patterns. I actually use Aunt Lydia's crochet thread-either classic 3 or 10..I started with yarn lol but patterns were toooo big so I changed materials. Good luck and have fun!
