Sometimes people tend to just add decoration to make a pattern pretty without putting much thought into it. I think that is what @chaotictay assumed had happened here. But that is not the case here. Like @stanbillie explained they really put thought into the decoration they chose. Personally I think the decoration makes a lot of sense.
