I would recommend taking each color and folding it in half like you were doing a chevron. I made the mistake of not having a loop at the top and now I can't tie it. Also make sure that whatever colors you're using for strings A, B and D are longer than the others because I happened to use those strings the most and they became shorter much faster. Over-measure if you have to.
