I think the two parts of the pattern are switched around.
For a double-sided keychain, you first tie one half upside-down, then you insert the keyring and then you tie the second half right-side up.

Okay, but it doesn't fully answer my question, why is it mirrored? Do I fold it in half to hide back, or do only half, or leave it how it is?
