@rxess the base strings are the strings you knot onto. They're the strings you can see sticking out at the top and the bottom of the pattern. The leading string is the string you knot with. It determines the colour of the knot. To get a different colour you switch to a new leading string. I recommend watching a tutorial video on YouTube for example the one by MashaKnots.
